Horrible paperwork we have to do
Offensive to us in ways that they don't understand
Marmoo made me do it, when it was
Exhaustingly hard and
Worse than stinky cheese
Outrageous, how dare they, give us such a
Ridiculous, reoccuring requirement
Kick it!

Expository Essay

                               Why Voyager 1 Was Launched

Zooming far outside our solar system is a craft headed for interstellar space. This craft is called Voyager 1. Voyager 1, was launched to discover more about our solar system and possibly find alien life.

NASA first began sending interstellar spacecraft in 1965. Since then, numerous probes have left Earth's orbit for deep space. Voyager 1 is one of those vessels. It was launched on Sept. 5th, 1977, from Cape Canaveral, Florida on board a Titan-C center rocket. The Voyagers where sent to survey the four gas giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Their task included revealing information and sending back data about these intriguing planets and their fascinating moons.

Voyager's sister probe, Voyager 2, was rocketed out to Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. To reach these far off planets the Voyager twins used a technique called, "gravity assist." Gravity assist is employed when a spacecraft nears a large piece of matter, such as a planet, an asteroid, a star or a spaceship. As it accelerates towards the large mass, it uses towards outer planets. Voyager 1 flew by Jupiter, not only to pick up speed, but to find the gravitational tug of the matter to pick up speed and zoom off out more about its moons and the turbulent planet.

As the Voyagers surveyed the planets and their moons they discovered countless remarkable finds. They identified a ring around Jupiter, explored what Saturn's rings are comprised of, and identified six unknown Neptunian moons.

Although Voyager 1 is called "Voyager 1," it was actually launched after Voyager 2. If Voyager 2 was to survey Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, it required gravity assistance from Jupiter to propel it outwards. Scientists awaited the alignment of Jupiter with Saturn for Voyager 2 to be launched. So it was on Aug. 20 1977, that Voyager 2 was launched, prior to Voyager 1's take off. Although Voyager 2 was launched one month before, after 35 years, Voyager 1 has surpassed Voyager 2, making it the world's furthest and fastest man made, electronic device.

A secondary purpose of the Voyager probes is to continue into interstellar space to discover any alien life forms. Voyager 1 has traveled over 18,924,411,942 as of  Oct 28, 2013. It is currently flying through the heliosphere that is surrounding our solar system.

By 2020, we will have lost complete contact with Voyager 1. But just because we will no longer have a connection with the probe, it does not mean the mission is over. Voyagers' missions are to continue exploring the expansive universe and along the way possibly discover alien life, if they don't collide into an asteroid first. Voyager will boldly go where no spacecraft has gone before, off into interstellar space!

Poetry

Here's what I have been writing for poetry.

             Limericks

                                                        THE POND
The pond was so filthy with slime,
It smelt cruddy all the time.
A fish said, "No longer,"
"Will I stay and ponder,"
"This is a repulsive home of mine".

SILLY DUCK

There was a silly old duck,
who was in a horrible muck.
He ate some cheese,
To prevent a sneeze.
That poor old silly duck.

DELECTABLE CHIPS

There were some delectable chips,
that tasted great with dips.
When shoved in my mouth,
they headed south.
I will miss those delectable chips.

A limerick, like any other poem has to have an order or, " rules "

The 1,2,5 lines have to have seven to ten syllables,

3,4 have to have five to seven syllables.

This kind of poetry came from a place, believe it or not,

Limerick in Ireland!

Limericks have been around for along time. They were first written way, way, way back in the 16th century.

Here is my fav limerick poem:

There was a old man in a boat,
who said, " I'm a float, I'm a float!"
When they said, '' No! you ain't!
He was ready to faint,
That unhappy old man in a boat.

There was a young boy named Jera,
whose hair grew longer and scarier.
Then one day,
his mother cut it away.
Now he's much less hairier.

Hee hee!
